How it works
From an ungoverned spreadsheet to a provable number
IT-TIDY connects your existing Excel files to a governed database in five steps, then applies the same statistical discipline used on a production line to keep improving data quality.
The five steps
- 1
Keep your files.
The add-in sits inside the Excel your teams already use. Their models and layouts stay exactly as they are.
- 2
Set the rules.
Define what a valid value is, field by field: ranges, formats, lists, dependencies. Wrong entries are blocked at the source.
- 3
One governed database.
Every value is saved centrally, so everyone works on the same version and calculations run on the server.
- 4
Every change on record.
Who, what and when, for every cell. Closed periods stay closed, and auditors get evidence.
- 5
Quality, measured.
The Insy Sigma score tracks how stable and reliable each data field is over time, so you can improve it like any industrial process.
The Lean Six Sigma cycle behind IT-TIDY
IT-TIDY applies the DMAIC cycle — the certified path behind our approved results — to spreadsheet data quality, continuously.
- 1
Define rules
What counts as a valid value, field by field, agreed with the process owner.
- 2
Measure errors
Every rejected or corrected entry is logged, giving a real error rate per field.
- 3
Analyze where they start
Patterns in the audit trail show which fields, teams or periods produce the most errors.
- 4
Improve at the source
Rules, formats or instructions are refined where the data shows they need to be.
- 5
Control with statistical checks
The Insy Sigma score tracks stability over time, flagging drift before it becomes a problem.
Insy Sigma, explained simply
Insy Sigma is IT-TIDY's data quality score. It measures how stable and reliable each data field is over time, using statistical process control — the same method used to monitor a manufacturing line. A high sigma value means a field's values are consistently within range and rarely need correction; a low value flags a field that needs attention. [PLACEHOLDER: confirm definition with CEO]
